Histology of Ileum

• Has fewer villi,
• Very short broad tipped ( club shaped )
• Relatively abundant goblet cells.
• Lamina propria typically contains many lymphoid nodule clusters (Peyer’s patches).
• Bulge into luminal surface and extend into the luminal mucosa.
