PANCREAS
Histology of Pancreas, Exocrine part
- Made of serous, compound tubulo-alveolar gland.
- Lining cells appear triangular in section & have spherical nuclei located basally.
- Numerous zymolgen granules can be demonstrated at the apical part of the cell.
- Secretions produced are poured into intralobular ducts.
Histology of Pancreas,Endocrine part
- Contains rounded collection of cells called ISLETS OF LANGERHANS.
- each islet is separated from the exocrine part by thin reticular tissue.
- Islets are supplied with dense capillary plexus.
- In special procedures alpha cells, beta cells & delta cells can be demonstrated.
