Histology of Trachea

• Epithelum - respiratory epithelium (pseudo stratified columnar epithelium with goblet cells).
• Lamina propria - gradual decrease in thickness & increase in number of elastic fibres.
• Glands – mucous & serous glands.
• Skeletal connective tissue – C – shaped hyaline cartilage rings.
• Muscle – Smooth muscle named trachealis muscle.
